چکیده
Bacterial meningitis is a major cause of death and disability in children worldwide. Two human restricted respiratory pathogens, Streptococcus pneumoniae Haemophilus influenzae , are the causative agents bacterial meningitis, attributing to 200,000 deaths annually. These pathogens often part nasopharyngeal microflora healthy carriers. However, what factors elicit them disseminate invasive diseases, remain unknown. Elevated temperature fever hallmarks inflammation triggered by infections can act as warning signals pathogens. Here, we investigate whether these sense environmental evade host complement-mediated killing. We show that productions two vital virulence vaccine components, polysaccharide capsules factor H binding proteins, dependent, thus influencing serum/opsonophagocytic killing bacteria. identify characterise four novel RNA thermosensors S . responsible for capsular biosynthesis production proteins. Our data suggest bacteria might have independently co-evolved thermosensing abilities with different sequences but distinct secondary structures immune system.

Activity of gemifloxacin against Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.
This review focuses on the activity of gemifloxacin, a new respiratory fluoroquinolone, against the two most important bacterial pathogens associated with lower respiratory tract infections, namely Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae.
متن کاملHaemophilus influenzae and Streptococcus pneumoniae: living together in a biofilm.
Streptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae are both commensals of the human nasopharynx with an ability to migrate to other niches within the human body to cause various diseases of the upper respiratory tract such as pneumonia, otitis media and bronchitis. They have long been detected together in a multispecies biofilm in infected tissue. However, an understanding of their interplay i...
متن کاملStreptococcus pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae type b Carriage, Central Asia
A study of children was conducted in 3 Central Asian Republics. Approximately half of the Streptococcus pneumoniae isolates were serotypes included in available vaccine formulations. Approximately 6% of children carried Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). Using pneumococcal and Hib conjugate vaccines may decrease illness in the Central Asian Republics.

BACKGROUND Despite its direct connection to the nasopharynx which harbors otitis media pathogens as part of its normal flora, the middle ear cavity is kept free of these bacteria by as yet unknown mechanisms. Respiratory mucosal epithelia, including those of the middle ear and eustachian tube, secrete antimicrobial effectors including lysozyme, lactoferrin and beta defensins-1 and -2. To elucid...
متن کاملBacterial vaccines and serotype replacement: lessons from Haemophilus influenzae and prospects for Streptococcus pneumoniae.
Conjugate vaccines have reduced the incidence of invasive disease caused by Haemophilus influenzae, type b (Hib), in industrialized countries and may be highly effective against Streptococcus pneumoniae. However, the serotype specificity of these vaccines has led to concern that their use may increase carriage of and disease from serotypes not included in the vaccine. Replacement has not occurr...
